A much maligned wreck as people tend to do it in poor weather or when training and so don’t get to see it at it’s best. In good conditions this is a lovely wreck with lots of structure and life. The Countess of Erne was a passenger liner Paddle steamer but later converted to a coal hulk. In 1935 broke loose from her moorings and sank against the breakwater. She was built in the early 1880s and the conversion took place 1889. She is approximately 240’ long and with a 29’ beam she lies upright on the bottom. The holds are open and provide excellent opportunity for swim throughs. Look of for trigger fish, Nudibranchs, Tom Pot Blennies, butterfish and a variety of crabs.
